Opus 2 Platform currently supports the following file types:
File types | Explanation |
---|---|
TXT | TXT transcripts come in various formats, which are often uploaded as a first version before a more refined file, often in PTF or MDB format, is uploaded as a replacement. UK text transcripts have page numbers at the bottom middle, with line numbers and timecodes at the left of each page. US text transcripts can have page numbers in any corner of the page, and can have page numbers with leading zeros. A main distinction between text and other types of transcript is that page numbers, line numbers, and timestamps are parsed from the text body of the transcript. Non-text transcripts get these from the metadata they contain, and are therefore generally more reliable. |
PTF | PTF transcripts contain metadata in a header section of the transcript, which may include the transcript name, case name, and date. This metadata also contains page numbers and line numbers, and may contain timestamps. |
MDB | MDB transcripts are perhaps the most refined form of transcript. They contain metadata, which often includes expected media file names, start times, and end times. |
PCF | PCF transcripts are a concatenation of PTF transcripts. In the Upload Transcript dialog box, the user has the option to cycle through each of these bundled transcripts. With PCF transcripts, metadata is present in a header, but laid out slightly differently to metadata in PTF transcripts. Both PCF and PTF transcripts may contain notes (annotations) and issues (tags), but Opus 2 platform parses annotations and tags from PCF transcripts only. An Import notes toggle, and a tab entitled Note mapping allows the user to import this data, should they have a worksheet set up to do so. |
LEF | LEF transcripts are zip files which contain a single PTF transcript, alongside exhibits which have been referenced in the transcript. Platform unpacks this zip file and creates a folder with the name and title of the transcript. This folder contains the unpacked PTF transcript, alongside an Exhibit folder, which contains all of the exhibits unpacked from the LEF. Upon upload, a separate dialog box opens which shows any potential links from the transcript to the unpacked exhibits - the user can choose whether or not to create these as links in the transcript. LEF transcripts should be uploaded into a folder which is not the default 'Uploads' folder, in order to generate the 'Exhibits' folder. THIS BIT NEEDS CHANGING |
