This article explains how to add users to a project in Opus 2, either directly from within a project or centrally through the System Admin area.
A project in Opus 2 is a dedicated workspace that typically contains documents, worksheets, charts, portals, and other case‑specific content. Users must be explicitly added to a project before they can access or work within it.
Users can be added to projects in two ways:
- From within the project itself, or
- From the System Admin area, which allows bulk assignment and time‑limited access
Both methods ensure that access is controlled and aligned with project requirements.
Adding Users from Within a Project
- Open the relevant project.
- Navigate to Project Settings from the project menu.
- Select the Users tab.
- Click Add users.
- In the dialog box:
- Search for and select the users you want to add
- Click Add to confirm.
The selected users are immediately granted access to the project.
Example:
Add a paralegal to an active case project so they can begin uploading and reviewing documents.
Adding Users from System Admin
This method is useful when managing access across multiple projects or users.
- Click the system cog icon to open the System Admin page.
- Navigate to the Users tab in the top toolbar.
- (Optional) Click a user to review their current project access in the Projects tab of the right‑hand details panel.
- Select one or more users using the tick‑boxes in the left‑most column.
- Click the Actions dropdown and choose Add to Project.
- In the dialog box:
- Search for and select the project(s) to grant access
- (Optional) Set a time‑limited access period, after which access is automatically removed
- Click Add to apply the changes.
Example:
Grant expert witnesses temporary access to a project for a fixed review window.
