Explains how to use the Autolink tool to automatically create hyperlinks between documents based on defined reference formats.

How autolinking works

The Autolink tool in Opus 2 scans selected documents to identify and hyperlink references using predefined reference formats. These formats define the exact patterns the system looks for, including whether identifiers appear with or without brackets.

Autolinking helps connect related documents quickly and consistently, improving navigation and context during document review. The tool only creates links based on the formats you explicitly select and the scope of documents you choose to match against.

Creating autolink references

  1. Navigate to Documents.
  2. Select the document or documents you want to hyperlink from by ticking the checkbox beside each document.
  3. Click ActionsAutolink. The Autolink dialog opens.
  4. The project’s default reference format (for example, {Opus‑ID}) is selected automatically.
    • If additional formats are required (for example, [Document ID]), add them using the reference format setup process.
  5. Select the reference format(s) you want the Autolink tool to search for.
  6. Under Match in, choose the scope for matching:
    • All documents – Matches against every document in the project.
    • Single folder – Matches only against documents in a selected folder.
  7. Click Find matches. The results are displayed in a table.
  8. Select New matches to view only newly identified links.
  9. Click Create links to generate the hyperlinks.
Use the Autolink tool to efficiently connect related documents and improve document navigation. Ensure reference formats are configured correctly before running Autolink to achieve accurate and meaningful results.
