This Guidance is applicable to Opus 2 Release 7.10+
Overview
The Opus 2 platform (v7) has different search behaviors on a server-wide configuration level. There are three parameters available; always, never and quotes. To make changes to the configuration level, a request should be put to the platform support team.
TABLE OF CONTENTS
Parameter Definitions
Parameter | Definition | Behaviour |
---|---|---|
Option A: (Always) | This is the default for all servers and searches for exact matches. | This acts like the phrase has "quotes" around it, regardless of the user input. |
Option B: (Never) | This will search for partial matches. | This works on a boolean basis, where it returns the exact phrase contained within "quotes". If you don't have quotes, it uses OR functionality for each word. |
Option C: (Quotes) | This will search for the query if the phrase has quotes, i.e. "Test Phrase" | The entire phrase within "quotes" is returned, as well as each individual word within the quotes. |
Examples
Examples included for the search functionality are outlined below:
- P4U Exit Modelling
- "P4U Exit Modelling" - quotes being used here
- P4U Exit AND Modelling (AND operator)
- Q%T Options
- 2 5 Million
Always
There are will be no results when the phrase P4U Exit Modelling is used. This is because the each word is used as a different search term.
Using the AND operator will return results matching the word and extra search results, for example: P4U AND Exit
This is the default across UK Production.
Never
This parameter returns the expected results using quotes for the word "P4U Exit Modelling".
There will be extra search results, for example, when searching for a phrase such as P4U without the quotes.
Quotes
The parameter returns results for the words "P4U Exit Modelling" and also different search results, for example; P4U.
All words within the quotes are treated as individual quotes; "P4U" "Exit" "Modelling". This will return additional results, for any result which includes P4U, Exit or Modelling.
Full Stop (.), Comma (,), Dollar Sign ($) and Underline - (_) do not return any search results with the three configuration parameters. This is a defect, they are treated as white spaces instead. For example, to search for 35.5 Million, you should search for "35 5 Million".
