What are Installs?

When you load the platform, you'll see in the URL there is /secure/ after .com.

This is the install type, separate from the version number (or code-base). Secure denotes our current stable release and is the standard for all of our servers.

What we can do with this, is with the same client data-set, have different versions of code running. For example, some common names you may see in the URL instead of secure are;

  • dev-public
  • relXXX
  • beta

These are all chosen by the Project Support Specialist who deploys them, but usually hint as to what they do. For example, REL will usually be followed by a code number, such as REL701, REL691. Beta is usually an install we have put onto a server to test a new future release that is in a stable version. Dev-public is usually a non-stable release but good to show previews of features to come.

How to get them?

We would rather not do multiple parallel installs - but recognise sometimes they are needed.

If you would like to have a parallel install, please submit a ticket to Product Support highlighting which server you would like to have the install on, the reasoning and the code version that is required.

You can check the progress of the deployment through #server_upgrades_uk

When we go through code releases, we will send a message out to the original ticket reporter to close off these parallel installs if they are no longer required.
